Common questions
Loana is coming soon to iOS and Android. The best way to hear about launch is to check back here. A date will be posted on the home page.
No. You can start practicing the moment you open the app; there’s no signup wall. An optional account, for syncing progress across devices, comes later.
Your speech is scored on your own device. Recordings aren’t uploaded to a server, and nothing that identifies you personally is shared. See our Privacy page for the full detail.
Because Loana needs no account, most of your data (recordings, practice history, and settings) lives only on your device. On iPhone, deleting the app clears that local data. On Android, deleting the app removes it from the phone too, but if you have Auto Backup on, reinstalling can restore your progress from your Google backup, so turn off backup for Loana (or clear the app data) if you want it fully gone. If you turned on anonymous usage analytics, you can switch it off in the app at any time, and you can email support@loana.app to request access to or deletion of any data we hold. See our Privacy page for the full detail.
Yes. Your streak, practice history, and per-sound progress live on your device and are included in your own device backup (iCloud Backup on iPhone, Auto Backup on Android). We never receive any of it. When you set up a new or replacement phone and restore from that backup, your progress comes back automatically. Two things to know. On iPhone, this restore happens during the initial device setup, so deleting and reinstalling Loana on the same phone clears your local progress (offload the app instead of deleting it to keep your data), while Android restores your progress on reinstall. And because backups run periodically, a small amount of very recent practice can be lost after a sudden device loss. Syncing live across two devices, or between iPhone and Android, is a future opt-in feature.
Yes. Every sound and letter is free to practice, with a graded set of sentences and full on-device pronunciation scoring, no account needed. A paid plan adds the step-by-step lessons, the full sentence catalog, and deeper analytics. Pricing is shown in the app before you’re ever charged.
Loana needs microphone permission to hear you. Check that it’s allowed in your phone’s settings for Loana, then fully close and reopen the app. If it still won’t listen, email us and we’ll help.
We’d love to hear it. Loana is shaped by the people who use it. Email support@loana.app with as much detail as you can, including your device and what happened.
