Privacy Policy

Who we are

Loana is an English-speaking coach for Vietnamese learners, provided by Hendrix Consulting LLC ("Loana," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information the Loana mobile app and this website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

You can use the Loana app to practice speaking without creating an account. We designed Loana to collect as little personal information as possible.

Information we collect

Voice recordings and practice content. When you practice, the app records you speaking the sentence shown so it can analyze your pronunciation. This is the core of how Loana works.

Device and technical information. Basic, non-identifying technical data such as app version, device type, and operating system, used to run the app reliably and fix problems.

De-identified usage analytics. Anonymous, aggregated information about how the app is used, for example which features are opened, so we can improve Loana. This data is de-identified and does not identify you.

No account is required to use the app today, so we do not collect a name, email, or profile to use Loana. If we add optional accounts in the future to save your progress, we will update this policy first.

How we use your information

• Analyze your speech and give you pronunciation feedback.
• Provide, maintain, and improve the Loana app and website.
• Understand, in de-identified form, how the app is used so we can make it better.
• Diagnose problems and keep the service secure.

How your voice is processed

Pronunciation analysis may run directly on your device, or it may be processed on our servers or by trusted service providers, depending on the feature and your device. Where cloud processing is used, your recording is sent securely, used only to produce your feedback, and not used to identify you.

We use established service providers to run this processing, which may include Amazon Web Services (hosting), Microsoft Azure (speech analysis), and OpenAI (feedback generation). These providers process data only to perform services for us, under their own security and privacy obligations.

What we never do

• We never sell your data. Ever.
• We never share information that identifies you with third parties for their own use.
• We never send personally identifying information to our analytics provider.

Analytics

We use a third-party analytics service (such as Mixpanel) to understand how Loana is used in aggregate. We send only de-identified information to this service. No data that identifies you personally is shared with our analytics provider.

Service providers

We share data with the service providers described above only to operate Loana, for example cloud hosting, speech processing, and de-identified analytics. They are bound to use it only for that purpose. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data retention

We keep recordings and related data only as long as needed to provide and improve your feedback, then delete or de-identify it. De-identified analytics may be kept in aggregate. You can contact us to request deletion of data associated with you.

Children's privacy

Loana is intended for people aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can stop recording at any time by not using the practice feature, and you can uninstall the app to stop all collection. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete information about you. To make a request, email us at support@loana.app and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Data and account deletion

You can ask us to delete the data associated with you at any time. Email support@loana.app with the subject "Delete my data" from the address you want us to act on, and we will delete your voice recordings and related data, then confirm once done, within 30 days, except anything we are required to keep to meet a legal obligation.

No account is required to use Loana today, so there is nothing to sign in to, just send the request above. If we add accounts in the future, you will also be able to delete your account and its data from within the app.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit for any data sent off your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

International users

Loana is operated from the United States and serves learners in Vietnam and elsewhere. If you use Loana from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Loana evolves, for example if we add accounts or new features. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
